How to Watch Coachella Live on the Mac

April 27th, 2007

Since I didn’t go to Coachella this year, I’m watching it live from the SBC Blue Room – but not without a little effort. You see, they’re using Windows Media Player, and that’s a less than perfect situation for us mac users. But, there’s a way around it.

  1. Make sure you’re running the latest version of Quicktime
  2. Install the free Flip4Mac WMV plugin for Quicktime
  3. Command-click this link to the live video feed and copy the link location.
  4. Open quicktime player, go to File > Open URL and paste the url from the previous step.
  5. Voila! Live Coachella video in Quicktime Player. If you have Quicktime Pro you can view it full screen as well. It’s just like being there, except without the 104 degree temperature, the smell of 50,000 sweaty people and sand in your shoes.
