Catching Up With…

August 28th, 2006

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while, but I’ve seriously been busy as hell. Having both a full-time design gig and a part-time design gig is starting to wear on me. But I’m working on a solution to that, so there is light at the end of the tunnel. But for the moment, that light isn’t quite visible yet. So here’s a quick update on what I’ve been up to.

Robert Cray @ Ravinia

My mom and I recently went to Ravinia to see Robert Cray live. We’ve probably seen him five times, but it’s always a good performance. I recall a guy who worked at Co-op Records in Davenport, Iowa being very surprised I enjoy Robert Cray’s music. I suppose it’s one of the most normal-sounding things I listen to. But even if Robert Cray hadn’t been any good (but he played a great set as always) the trip would have been worth it to check out the grounds. It really is a nice place to see a show.

The only drama involved in the show happened when mom and I tried to sneak Dove bars into our pavillion seats. While waiting for the lights to go down and conceal our smuggled snacks, the ice cream melted inside the chocolate covering. The result was a crotchful of ice cream. I ended up wedging the rapidly melting treat into my event program, and sliding around on it’s remains during the performance.

New Car

We bought a new Toyota. Nothing fancy, but it’s a nice vehicle. It’s making me notice how beat up the Honda really is. Oh well, the Honda has a place for me to hook up my iPod – which is really all that matters when you commute.

Silent Hill Sucked

Seriously–what an awful movie. It wasn’t scary in the slightest and the story wasn’t even remotely plausable (and this coming from a fan of zombie movies). It certainly wasn’t the worst movie ever made, but it does make it into a three-way tie for the worst modern horror movie I’ve seen (other contestants include Boogeyman and Darkness).

Oh man, I’m sorry you sat through Silent Hill. But if history has taught us much, movies based on video games are rarely a good idea.

Also, *two* design jobs? Just don’t burn yourself out, man.

    ‘Cause it’s not good.
