The Wicked Pisser of Having a Blog

July 14th, 2005

The wicked pisser about having a blog is this: there are a great number of things that happen in your life that you’ll going to want to bitch about. And unless you live your life like there are no consequences (did that for a summer once, and it’s a bad idea) you probably can’t write about them all.

Even if you don’t name the guilty, they’ll know who they are. And even if they’re not the guilty, they probably know the guilty, and will rat you out the first chance they get. Or, they’re a potential employer and they’re googling you to see if you’ll play well with others (I typically do, but it depends on the others).

So what can you do with a situation like this? My solution has been to write about concerts, music, and technology and leave my snarky comments about everything else off the web. But that feels like a big cop out, because it is a big cop out. So maybe I’ll discontinue having a blog entirely.

I’m going to have to think about it.
