Do I need a new computer. No, I don’t. Do I want a new computer? Yes, I do. Very much. What is it about being a geek that drives the desire for new gadgetry? I have no idea, but it’s a force of nature to strong to argue with.

The good news is that if I give in to these impulses, the Apple Store has a whole collection of refurbed G5′s and color iPods right now. If I succumb to the desire to upgrade, at least I can spend well under $2000 to get a nicely equipped G5.

However, getting a new iPod is always a good way to stave off a CPU purchase. Now that the iPod line is only a 20GB and 60GB model, it might be a good time to pick up a refurbed 30GB or 40GB model for cheap.
