PalmOne LifeDrive
May 18th, 2005You have to give PalmOne credit for beating a dead horse. As much as I love gadgets (a lot!) I just don’t see the purpose of a PDA that doesn’t have a phone in it these days.
I restate my centeral gadget problem: I carry a cell phone and an iPod. Some days, I even carry a very lightweight digital camera. Why exactly do I need a PDA also? The only time I even use my Palm 505 anymore is for using Vindigo to find CD stores and brewpubs in an unfamiliar city.
Don’t get me wrong: the LifeDrive is a sweet piece of gear – video, audio, wifi, bluetooth… But it’s for solving the kind of problems I’m not important enough to have. Problems like, having to connect to my Exchange server to get an important business email. Or, having to edit a Word file on the fly to get a proposal out in the back of a cab. I’m a web designer – unless this thing runs Fireworks MX 2004 in OS X, it’s just a brick in my pocket.
